Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Living With Clarity ("I", "me", "us") collects through livingwithclarity.com, why, and what your rights are. I'm based in New Zealand, so this site follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Because visitors also come from the UK and the European Union, I also follow the main principles of the GDPR / UK GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Living With Clarity is run by [LEGAL_NAME, e.g. your full name or business name], Tauranga, New Zealand.
Contact for privacy questions: CONTACT_EMAIL
[POSTAL_ADDRESS_OPTIONAL]
2. What I collect and why
| What | When | Why (purpose) | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your email address (plus the wizard result you got, e.g. "Tired but wired", if you sign up from the wizard) | Only if you enter it in an email form and tick the consent box | To send you occasional reset emails and the content you asked for | Your consent. You can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing |
| Analytics data: pages visited, approximate location (city/country), device and browser type, how you move around a page (clicks, scrolls) | Only if you allow analytics cookies | To understand which free resources are helpful and improve the site | Your consent |
| Advertising measurement data: that you arrived from or visited after a Pinterest pin or Google ad, pages viewed and free tools downloaded, a cookie ID | Only if you allow advertising cookies | To see which pins bring people to the free tools, and (if I run them) to show reminder ads for free tools to past visitors | Your consent |
| Anything you send me by email | If you contact me | To reply to you | Legitimate interest in answering your message |
| Donation details (name, email, payment info) | Only if you choose to donate | Processed by the payment provider (Stripe or Ko-fi), not by me. I receive your name, email and the amount | Needed to process your payment |
The wizard on this site runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to me or stored anywhere unless you choose to sign up for email (in which case only your result is saved with your email).
3. Cookies
Essential storage: I save your cookie choice in your browser's local storage so the banner doesn't keep reappearing. This is necessary and contains no personal information.
Optional analytics cookies (only with your consent):
- Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), loaded through Google Tag Manager. Cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*, kept up to 2 years. Google Signals is not used, and advertising features only run if you also allow advertising cookies. - Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation). Cookies such as
_clckand_clsk, kept up to 1 year. Clarity records anonymised heatmaps and session replays of how pages are used. It is set to mask text you type.
Optional advertising cookies (only if you tick "Advertising" or click "Accept all"):
- Pinterest tag (Pinterest Europe Ltd / Pinterest Inc.). Cookies such as
_pin_unauthand_epik, kept up to 1 year. Tells me when someone who came from one of my pins views a page or downloads a free tool. - "Save to Pinterest" buttons on images are plain links. They don't load any Pinterest code or set cookies on this site. If you click one, you go to pinterest.com and Pinterest's own privacy policy applies there.
- Google Ads remarketing (Google LLC), only if I switch it on in Google Tag Manager. Cookies such as
_gcl_au, kept up to 90 days. May be used to show ads for my free tools to people who visited before. Google's ad settings: adssettings.google.com.
The site uses Google Consent Mode: until you choose, Google tags are not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time:
4. Who I share information with
I only share information with services that help run this site, and only for the purposes above:
- Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA): stores the email list and sends emails.
- Google (USA): Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4.
- Microsoft (USA): Microsoft Clarity.
- Pinterest (Ireland / USA): the Pinterest tag, only with advertising consent.
- [HOSTING_PROVIDER, e.g. Lightningbase]: website hosting. Like all web servers, it keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security.
- Stripe / Ko-fi: only if you donate.
- Whop, Amazon: if you follow a link to these sites, their own privacy policies apply.
I never sell, rent or trade your personal information. I would only disclose it if required by law.
5. Information stored overseas
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand (mainly in the USA). Under Information Privacy Principle 12 of the NZ Privacy Act and under the GDPR, I only use providers that protect information to comparable standards (for example through Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
6. How long I keep it
- Email address: until you unsubscribe, or after [EMAIL_RETENTION, e.g. 24 months] without opening any email, after which I delete it.
- Analytics data: Google Analytics is set to keep data for [GA4_RETENTION, e.g. 14 months]. Clarity keeps recordings for about 30 days and heatmaps for up to 13 months.
- Emails you send me: as long as needed to help you.
7. Your rights
Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you and ask me to correct it. If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew).
To use any of these rights, email CONTACT_EMAIL. I'll respond within 20 working days. Every email I send also has an unsubscribe link.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please contact me first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand), or to your local data protection authority if you live in the UK or EU.
8. Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption. I don't store payment card details; payments are handled by the payment providers. If a privacy breach ever caused, or was likely to cause, serious harm, I would notify the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected as the law requires.
9. Children
This site is meant for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
10. Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top of this page.
